Meet Rami – Our new Business Director
Rami Riikonen is Systam’s Business Director who never takes his eyes off the ball. Literally. His work is motivated by the people around him and, of course, satisfied customers. At its best, he views sales as purely a way of helping customers.
What do you do and what does your typical workday look like?
My key responsibilities include especially the productisation of the Pass induction service which is a module of the Systam Respa visitor management system. This project is exciting, and allows me to listen to the customers’ wishes and further develop the product accordingly. My days are also spent with sales cases and business development projects, for example, in order to deliver growth in the international environment. My strongest motivation comes from satisfied customers.
What attracted you to Systam?
I had already been following Systam for some time. The company’s innovatiness and the positive customer feedback on their products played a significant role in my decision to apply for a position here. Throughout the company’s history its staff turnover has also been minimal, and I feel that this tells a beautiful story of the company’s culture and its management. For me personally, it is important to do things the right way, and I think that Systam’s values in this are a great match with mine. Being able to participate in the most recent recruitments has made me excited about the fact that the same aspects seem to be attracting more great people with the same mindset.
What about your previous life?
Before my position at Systam, I spent 10 years working in the medical sector in sales and sales development. I know surprisingly much about dental imaging equipment, laboratory diagnostics and, for example, veterinary orthopaedics. I have completed my degree at Tampere University of Technology, so returning to Hermia at Systam’s office in the same neighbourhood was like coming home.
What is best about your job?
I enjoy creating something new and working together with people. I feel that sales work at its best is so much about helping customers, and that is what I get to do at Systam, every day. By being a part of change, I feel that I can be of use to the people around me. And the dynamic nature of the SaaS business has truly carried me away and continues to inspire me day after day.
What keeps you busy during your spare time?
My spare time is spent with my wife and four children, and I often also find myself reading, doing sports or playing the guitar.
What do others often not know about you?
During my studies, I was very active in underwater rugby and I was a member of the Finnish national team which won gold in the World Championships in 2007.
