Meet Aleksis – Our Customer Success Specialist

02.08.2022

Greetings from the team

Aleksis Kermorgant is the self-proclaimed “Swiss Army knife guy” of our Customer Success team, and in this short post, we will merely scratch the surface of all his skills, hobbies, and interests. Our paths merged when Aleksis was still a student, which is why freedom and a workplace environment supportive of his goals were especially important to him in his new workplace.

What do you do and what does your typical workday look like?

I’m a part of our Customer Success team, but a more fitting description for me would be the “Swiss Army knife guy”. My main duties are planning and implementing projects for our customers, but I also enjoy wearing many hats and solving problems. In practice, my workday might include light coding, scripting, support tasks, inducting colleagues or even photo editing. Although, most of my day is spent handling emails.

What attracted you to Systam?

I grew tired of the irregular day-to-day life of a poor student and cashier, and I started asking around for possible opportunities in various hobby-related communities I’m involved in. As an incentive I promised that whoever found me employment would be entitled to a six-pack of a beverage of their choice. My current colleague Eero suggested that I apply for a job at Systam where he worked at, and now, one and a half years have gone by nearly unnoticed.

What about your previous life?

My first encounter with IT was when I was a few years old, and my dad was playing Doom while I was seated in his lap. I have pretty much always known that I want to work in IT.

Before Systam, I worked part-time as a cashier in Prisma, a large hypermarket chain. I have been studying ICT in Laurea University of Applied Sciences alongside work, and I graduated with a degree in ICT and Business Administration just a few months ago with the support and encouragement of Systam.

What is best about your job?

Varying tasks and the freedom of choice! I feel that I can concentrate on areas that interest and motivate me. For example, this can be seen in the additional training and courses we take during work hours, because everyone is free to customize their training based on personal interests. I can also partake in various internal and external projects that allow me to improve my own skills.

The sense of freedom is also strengthened by our fantastic team spirit and the genuinely positive working atmosphere. Help is always available when asked, and in the same vein, if someone comes to me with an issue, I’m always ready to lend a helping hand.

What keeps you busy during your spare time?

I’m up to all sorts of things in my free time. First and foremost, I’m interested in mechanical keyboards, which never fail to amaze my coworkers. I love it when the tool I use up to 14 hours every day is exactly how I want it to be. Keycaps in various sizes and colors, key switches that have different feels to them, and different types of boards can create unique combinations. Little by little, I have introduced others at Systam to this hobby of mine, and a few of them have already dipped their toes in the scene.

My other hobbies include cooking, video games, blasting music, wrist watches, practical shooting, podcasts, flight and space simulators, foreign microbrewery beers, and horrendous dad jokes.

What do others often not know about you?

I put cheese on top of the ham, and I’m proud of it. Others are simply mistaken, and no one or nothing has been able to turn my head on this matter in my lifetime.
