Meet Markus – Account Manager

Markus Kangas is our Sales team’s hard-hitting seller with a soft touch. He doesn’t just close deals; he opens doors to new opportunities. For Markus, the most important thing is finding the best solution for the customer and building trust through exemplary conduct. And he’s always up for a coffee when invited.

What do you do and what does your typical workday look like?

I work as part of Systam’s sales team, focusing on sales and customer relationship management. My typical day includes meetings, progressing sales deals, and client interactions. I also frequently brainstorm with the rest of the team about sales cases and presentation materials.

What attracted you to Systam?

I became interested in Systam around 2018 and even got an interview. I was one of the top candidates, but they chose someone else at that time. However, the company, the people, and the products left a strong impression on me. After the recruitment process, I stayed in touch with the sales director at the time, exchanging updates. Apparently, I left a strong impression too. One day, I was invited for coffee at the office, which led to a job offer, and here I am now!

What about your previous life?

I learned sales by doing it. Before Systam, I had been doing basic sales for a long time. I started my career with light projects on the consumer side (B2C) and then moved to business sales (B2B). Before sales, I did a bit of everything, from technical expertise to property maintenance and everything in between.

What is best about your job?

The best part of my job is definitely the people – the clients from various companies and the coworkers I get to do great things with. Solving problems together with the team is rewarding. Nothing beats finding the right solution for a client and hearing positive feedback. When things go well, it builds trust, making it easier to expand cooperation.

A successful sales presentation is always a little victory and boosts my motivation. It’s also a moment to reflect and think about how I can improve. My job is generally fun and challenging, and different customer environments keep my interest and energy levels high.

What keeps you busy during your spare time?

In my free time, I enjoy playing with my kids. I also go motorcycling, climbing, and jogging. My girlfriend and I love culture and sports. Right now, we’re into badminton, and we’ve also been spotted on the golf course.

What do others often not know about you?

During my studies, I participated in nationwide investment competitions and placed third. I bought stocks in Olvi, HKFoods, and Hartwall. I think it was back in 2006.
